Ratia, October 9 (Advocate Gurpreet Singh Mandher):- To ensure the smooth procurement of paddy at the Ratia grain market and prevent farmers from facing any inconvenience while selling their produce, SDM Surender Singh inspected the grain market. During the visit, he reviewed the ongoing paddy procurement process, the functioning of procurement agencies and the status of lifting procured paddy. He sought information about procurement operations from the concerned officials and representatives of procurement agencies and issued necessary directions.
During the inspection, SDM Surender Singh directed procurement agencies to expedite the lifting of paddy already purchased at the market so that heaps of produce do not remain there for an extended period. He said that timely lifting is as important as paddy procurement. This will ensure the availability of space in the market and make it easier for farmers to bring their produce. He instructed the concerned agencies to work in coordination and accelerate the lifting process.
The SDM said that ensuring farmers’ convenience during the paddy procurement season is an administrative priority. Therefore, procurement agencies must ensure that farmers do not have to wait unnecessarily to sell their produce. No negligence in procurement operations will be tolerated, and all concerned officials must discharge their responsibilities seriously.
He directed officials to regularly monitor procurement and lifting operations in the market and said that the concerned agencies must ensure the systematic conduct of the procurement process so that farmers do not face any inconvenience.
