Sangrur, October 17:- As part of the campaign being conducted by Sangrur District Police against drugs and illegal activities, a total of eight cases have been registered and 14 persons arrested during various actions under CASO (Cordon and Search Operation). During the operation, 150 grams of sulfa, 100 grams of heroin and 18 bottles of liquor were recovered.

Sharing this information, Sangrur SSP Dr. Ravjot Grewal said that the district police are making continuous efforts to curb the supply of drugs and take action against people involved in illegal activities. He said the objective of such campaigns is to increase police activity in drug-affected areas and ensure a safe environment for the public.

Giving details of the action, he said that four cases have been registered under Section 27 of the NDPS Act. Recovery is yet to be made in one of these cases. In addition, one case has been registered under the Excise Act, and 18 bottles of liquor have been recovered.

Dr. Grewal said strict legal action would be taken against those involved in the drug trade. He added that, alongside breaking the drug supply chain, public cooperation is also crucial in encouraging people affected by drug addiction to seek treatment and rehabilitation.

The SSP appealed to district residents to share with the police any information about drug sales or other illegal activities in their neighbourhoods. He assured them that the identity of anyone providing information would be kept confidential. He said that with public cooperation, the police campaign to make Sangrur drug-free and safe would continue.
