Ambala, October 4 (R. Singh):- Rotary Club of Ambala organised a Nation Builder Award ceremony at Kumari Rukmani Devi Hall in Ambala Cantt and honoured 11 teachers from the region with Nation Builder Awards. The award recipients included Dr. Ruby Bhatia (MM Medical College, Mullana), Dr. Archana Goyal (Adesh Medical College), Dr. Shivam Garg (MM Medical College, Sadopur), Major Jagjit Narang (Government Polytechnic, Ambala City), Dr. Mukesh (Ambala College of Engineering and Applied Research, Mithapur), Mrs. Ruma Mundhar (Kharga Pre-Primary School, Ambala Cantt), Mrs. Kuldeep Kaur (Pavitra Dham Deaf and Dumb School, Ambala Cantt), Mrs. K. Matta (Police DAV Public School, Ambala City), Mr. Jagtar (DAV Public School, Ambala City), Mrs. Bharti Sehgal (SD Vidya, Ambala Cantt) and Mrs. Varna Chandran (Integrated Education Centre, Mithapur). Besides the teachers, Rotary Deputy Governor Naresh Bhardwaj was also honoured with the “All Avenues of Service Award” for his outstanding service. Dr. Rita Kalra and chief guest Vivek Atrey presented Bhardwaj with an attractive pin and crystal memento on behalf of Rotary International.
Chief guest and retired IAS officer Vivek Atrey, in his address, urged everyone to develop positive thinking, reduce negativity and remain continuously committed to self-improvement. He appreciated the Rotarians for their compassionate and sensitive contribution to society and congratulated all the award winners.
Special guest Dr. Rita Kalra, Governor of Rotary District 3080, highlighted the important and multifaceted role of teachers in shaping the lives of students. She said that teachers not only impart education but also make a significant contribution to nation-building by shaping the character, thinking and future of students.
Earlier, Rotary Club of Ambala President Vivek Malhotra warmly welcomed the guests. During the event, club secretary Rotarian Dr. R.R. Suri thanked the Rotarians who celebrated their birthdays and wedding anniversaries in September. Meanwhile, Rotarian Subhash Goyal celebrated his birthday by cutting a cake. Chief guest Vivek Atrey and special guest Dr. Rita Kalra were honoured by former presidents and the Rotarians present. The memorable event concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Project Chair Rotarian Parul Gandhi.
