Kotkapura, September 27:- Punjab Subordinate Services Federation, 1680, Sector 22-B, Chandigarh, State President Ranjit Singh Ranwan, General Secretary Surinder Kumar Puari and State Additional General Secretary Prem Chawla have written a letter to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, demanding that the Seventh Pay Commission of Punjab be constituted immediately for millions of employees and pensioners of the state and its report be implemented with effect from January 1, 2026.
The letter states that successive governments in Punjab have, from time to time, constituted and implemented the First, Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Pay Commissions in the years 1968, 1978, 1986, 1996, 2006 and 2016, respectively, for revision of the salaries and pensions of millions of their employees and pensioners. It is particularly noteworthy that, on the one hand, the Central Government has constituted the Eighth Central Pay Commission for revision of the salaries and pensions of its millions of employees and pensioners with effect from January 1, 2026, and the Commission has also started its work some time ago. On the other hand, the Punjab government led by Bhagwant Mann, during its four-and-a-half years in office so far, has failed to pay its employees and pensioners the entire outstanding amount due under the Sixth Punjab Pay Commission, implemented with effect from January 1, 2016.
The leaders further said that this negative approach of the Punjab Government is being widely criticised among the employees and pensioner community of Punjab, and the struggle against the Punjab Government is also intensifying day by day.
The leaders strongly demanded from the Punjab Government that the Seventh Pay Commission of Punjab be constituted immediately for millions of employees and pensioners of the state and that its report be implemented with effect from January 1, 2026.
