Chandigarh, October 14 ():- Dr. B. Adinarayana, Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Punjab Engineering College (PEC), Chandigarh, and a member of Vijnana Bharati (VIBHA), Chandigarh Prant, participated in the 2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the National Environment and Energy Development (NEED) Mission, an initiative of Vijnana Bharati (VIBHA). The meeting was held on October 10, 2026, at the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), Sector 62, Noida, Uttar Pradesh, with representatives from approximately 13 states across India.
The AGM brought together representatives from various prants to review the Mission’s activities, achievements, financial progress and future development plans. Representing Chandigarh Prant, Dr. B. Adinarayana presented the environmental sustainability activities undertaken during the preceding year and highlighted their contributions to the objectives of the NEED Mission.
The meeting emphasised key environmental priorities, including net-zero initiatives, water conservation, energy efficiency, reverse osmosis (RO) wastewater management, and sustainable and resilient buildings. A short awareness video on RO wastewater management was released to promote responsible water use and encourage wastewater reuse. Participants also discussed strengthening environmental education and awareness among schoolchildren through structured programmes and interactive activities.
The AGM was attended by Dr. Shivkumar Sharma, National Organising Secretary of Vijnana Bharati (VIBHA), and Shri Praveen Ramadas, National Joint Organising Secretary of VIBHA. Dr. Palwinder Kaur, WiSE-SCOPE Scientist at CSIR–Central Scientific Instruments Organisation (CSIO), Chandigarh, also represented Chandigarh Prant at the meeting.
Dr. B. Adinarayana’s participation highlights his engagement with environmental sustainability, energy conservation and sustainable development initiatives through VIBHA’s NEED Mission. The meeting provided an important platform for sharing regional achievements, exchanging ideas, strengthening collaboration among participating prants and developing future strategies to promote environmentally responsible practices at individual, institutional and community levels.
