Hoshiarpur/Daljit Ajnoha:- A meeting was held today at the Dussehra Ground in Hoshiarpur in the presence of MLA Bram Shankar Jimpa and Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain to review preparations for the Dussehra festival being organised by the Shri Ramleela Committee. During the meeting, various arrangements required to ensure that the festival is conducted smoothly, safely and in an organised manner were discussed in detail.
On the occasion, MLA Bram Shankar Jimpa reviewed the preparations with office-bearers of the Shri Ramleela Committee and administrative officials. He said that Dussehra is an important festival associated with people’s religious faith and cultural traditions. Hoshiarpur’s Dussehra has a special identity and is among the major celebrations held on a large scale after the Dussehra festival in Kullu. People in the region celebrate the festival with great devotion, enthusiasm and joy, and a large number of devotees are expected to attend.
The MLA directed the concerned officials to complete all necessary arrangements well in advance to ensure the successful organisation of the festival. He said special attention should be given to cleanliness at the venue, traffic management, parking, security, electricity, drinking water and other essential facilities so that devotees do not face any inconvenience. He made it clear that there should be no shortcomings at any level of preparation and that all departments must fulfil their responsibilities in coordination with one another.
Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain said the safety and convenience of the public during the Dussehra festival were priorities for the district administration. She directed civil and police administration officials to make proper plans for security at the venue, traffic control, crowd management and other essential arrangements. She said all concerned departments should work in coordination and review the arrangements before the event to ensure that the festival concludes peacefully, safely and in an orderly manner.
Mayor Praveen Saini, Assistant Commissioner (General) Dr. Sumit Mudh, Shri Ramleela Committee president Gopichand Kapoor, other committee office-bearers and officials from various departments were present at the meeting.
