Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, October 9:- Under the Chief Minister’s Pilgrimage Scheme launched by the Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, MLA Kulwant Singh today flagged off a bus from Ansal, Sector 114, Mohali, carrying senior citizen devotees to Khatu Shyam and Salasar for religious visits.
Speaking to reporters on the occasion, MLA Kulwant Singh said that happiness and enthusiasm were clearly visible on the faces of the devotees departing for the pilgrimage. He said that people were appreciating the Punjab Government’s efforts to facilitate visits to religious sites for senior citizens.
He said that, in view of the demand from devotees and the enthusiasm they were showing, the pilgrimage programme under this scheme would continue. Buses were being arranged according to the number of devotees and their requirements. He added that the Punjab Government makes arrangements for senior citizens to board buses from their homes, as well as for their travel, accommodation and meals.
The MLA said that earlier, under this scheme, devotees were being taken to Sri Darbar Sahib, Sri Durgiana Temple, Ram Tirath Valmiki Temple, the Wagah Border and Jallianwala Bagh in Sri Amritsar Sahib. Now, buses were also being dispatched to religious destinations such as Khatu Shyam, Salasar, Vrindavan and Haridwar.
He said that when devotees return from the pilgrimage and share their experiences with their families and relatives, it generates enthusiasm among more people to undertake the journey. As a result, the number of devotees registering under the scheme is increasing.
MLA Kulwant Singh said that the Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, was working to fulfil the promises and guarantees made to the people of the state, while also striving for Punjab’s all-round development.
Senior Aam Aadmi Party leaders Kuldeep Singh Samana, Khushveer Kaur, Sukhwinder Kaur Bhullar, Tarlochan Singh Tochi (Block President), Daljit Singh (President, Residents’ Welfare Association), Bhupinder Singh Saini (former president), Pal Singh Rattu (former vice-president), Amarjit Singh Sidhu, Baljit Singh Happy, Pargat Singh Raipur Kalan and Gagan Mohali, along with other prominent personalities from the area, were present on the occasion.
