Una, 1 October:- The District Legal Services Authority, Una, organised legal awareness programmes under the National Legal Services Authority’s Scheme for Legal Services to Senior Citizens, 2016, on the occasion of International Day of Senior Citizens. These programmes were organised at Chadtgarh in Development Block Una and Kungarh in Haroli Development Block. This information was provided by Shikha Lakhanpal, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Una. She said that the objective of these awareness programmes was to make senior citizens aware of their legal rights and the legal assistance available to them.
In this connection, the first programme was organised at the old age home in Chadtgarh by the Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defence Counsel, District Legal Services Authority, Una. During the programme, senior citizens were provided information about their legal rights, welfare schemes, free legal aid and National Legal Services Authority helpline number 15100.
The second programme was organised at Kungarh in Haroli Development Block by the Jagriti Unit. Advocate Neeraj Kumar and Avtar Kaur, along with a Para Legal Volunteer, made senior citizens aware of their rights, welfare provisions, free legal aid and helpline number 15100.
