Una, October 9:- The District Legal Services Authority, Una, organised an awareness programme on the occasion of the International Day of the Girl Child at Government Senior Secondary School, Dharamshal Mahantan, in Amb Development Block. Shikha Lakhanpal, Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Una, attended the programme as a special guest.
The main objective of the programme was to make students aware of girls’ legal rights, education, safety, protection against cybercrime and the availability of free legal aid. During the programme, students were informed about girls’ rights and encouraged to remain aware of their rights and seek appropriate legal assistance in cases of any form of exploitation or cybercrime.
Secretary Shikha Lakhanpal highlighted the importance of girls’ education, safety and empowerment. She said that providing equal opportunities to girls and ensuring the protection of their rights were essential for the all-round development of society. She also sensitised students to remain alert to cybercrime and use digital platforms safely and responsibly.
During the programme, information was also shared about the provisions for obtaining free legal aid. The programme further conveyed the message of promoting respect for girls, equality, a safe environment and their overall development.
