Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, October 16:- Under the ‘Every Friday, Fight Dengue’ campaign, teams from the District Health Department inspected various government and private schools in the district today and checked potential mosquito-breeding sites. As part of the campaign being conducted under the leadership of Civil Surgeon Dr. Sangeeta Jain, health teams also educated teachers and students about the symptoms, causes, prevention and treatment of dengue fever. Insecticide was also sprayed to control mosquitoes.

The health teams explained that dengue mosquitoes breed in clean, stagnant water, so everyone should ensure that water does not accumulate in their surroundings. They appealed to people to observe every Friday as a dry day and keep all places where mosquitoes may breed clean and dry. They added that although the weather is getting cooler, dengue mosquitoes may continue to breed until the end of November. Therefore, people need to remain vigilant during this period as well.

Dengue testing and treatment are available free of cost at government hospitals. For information, people can contact the medical helpline at 104. ASHA workers, health workers and students from nursing colleges were also part of the teams.
