Chandigarh, October 22:- The Haryana Government has approved procurement and service-related plans worth approximately Rs 3.26 crore to upgrade district hospitals, strengthen blood banks, improve testing laboratory facilities, enhance drug quality testing and prepare a centralised digital inventory of medical equipment across all districts of the state.

These decisions were taken at a meeting of the State Health Procurement Special Standing Procurement Committee (SSPC-High), chaired by Dr. Sumita Misra, Additional Chief Secretary, Health Department.

The committee approved a provision for a two-year rate contract for the procurement of nine mortuary chambers, each with a capacity of six bodies, for district hospitals in Haryana. The estimated cost is Rs 70.62 lakh. In addition, approval was granted for the procurement of 17 height-adjustable pedestal post-mortem tables at an estimated cost of Rs 66.27 lakh.

A total of approximately Rs 1.37 crore will be spent on these two proposals. The objective is to increase mortuary capacity and make the post-mortem process safer and more efficient.

In another significant decision, the procurement of medical equipment worth approximately Rs 1.09 crore was approved to strengthen blood banks, screening and laboratory services.

The equipment includes 25 deep freezers capable of maintaining a temperature of minus 40 degrees Celsius, costing approximately Rs 56.64 lakh; 20 ELISA readers with washers, costing Rs 34.02 lakh; and 15 digital analytical balances, costing Rs 18.55 lakh.

These devices will improve the safe storage of samples and reagents. They will also strengthen screening and testing capacity and help ensure the availability of safe blood at healthcare institutions.

To strengthen the drug quality control system, approval was granted for the procurement of two dissolution machines at an estimated cost of Rs 16.04 lakh and two disintegration testing units at a cost of Rs 8.96 lakh for the Haryana Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

A total of approximately Rs 25 lakh will be spent on this equipment. It will enhance the FDA’s drug-testing capacity and enable more effective monitoring of compliance with prescribed quality standards.

The committee also approved a state-level exercise to survey, verify, certify and digitise medical equipment installed at healthcare institutions across all districts of Haryana. An agency has been selected for this work, which is estimated to cost approximately Rs 22.42 lakh.

The objective of this initiative is to prepare an accurate, centralised digital inventory of medical equipment. This will help officials monitor the condition, use and availability of equipment, while enabling better planning for maintenance and future procurement.

According to officials, the digital inventory will strengthen accountability and make the management of medical equipment in government healthcare institutions more transparent and efficient.

In addition, the committee approved the appointment of an agency under a three-year service-level agreement for cleaning and housekeeping services at the office of Haryana Medical Services Corporation Limited (HMSCL), located in Panchkula. The arrangement will cost approximately Rs 32.40 lakh.

The objective is to ensure cleanliness, hygiene and proper maintenance of the corporation’s office premises.

The Haryana Government stated that these decisions would strengthen the state’s healthcare infrastructure, improve testing and drug-testing facilities, and enhance the management of medical equipment and essential support services.

The approvals include a two-year rate contract for medical equipment, a three-year contract for housekeeping services and the proposed process for digitising medical equipment across the state.
