Batala, September 24:- A Gurmat Samagam was organised by the residents of village Chak Bhangwan at Gurdwara Singh Sabha in the memory of respected Bibi Joginder Kaur Kohli (Mumbai). After the bhog of Sri Akhand Path Sahib, Bhai Hardev Singh Ji (Hazoori Ragi, Sri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar) performed kirtan, after which Giani Sarwan Singh Ji (Ardasia, Sri Darbar Sahib) performed the Ardas and recited the Mukhwak.
Thereafter, representatives of All India Pingalwara Charitable Society (Regd.), Amritsar, Bhupinder Singh Kohli, Major Singh, the Principal and staff of Akal Academy Moolianwal, Tibbar and Khmana, Manpreet Kaur and Harbaksh Singh, Civil Defence, Batala, while shedding light on the life of Mata Ji, said that Bibi Joginder Kaur Kohli (Mumbai) was an embodiment of service and sacrifice and an institution in herself.
They said that she was dedicated to service and personally looked after destitute and needy children, especially girls, until the age of 95. Mata Ji had been helping the poor with medicines and old clothes for a long time, besides planting and nurturing trees, which she pursued as a mission in life. Today, forests are being planted at various Akal Academies in her memory.
On the occasion of her first death anniversary, 111 neem trees and 116 fruit-bearing saplings were also planted at a school in Bihar. At the end, books based on her life and other books were distributed among all those present. Let us all work together to protect the environment and plant as many trees as possible.
