Haroli/Una, September 28:- Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri said that the state government is continuously working for the honour and welfare of serving and ex-servicemen who have protected the country's borders. With the objective of ensuring respect and facilities for ex-servicemen in civilian life as well, an Ex-Servicemen Bhawan will be constructed as part of the New Haroli concept being developed near Rampur Bridge in Haroli. An amount of Rs 3.50 crore has been sanctioned for the building and the first instalment of more than Rs 1 crore has been released to the Public Works Department. The construction is targeted to be completed by June 2027.
The Deputy Chief Minister shared this information while meeting a delegation of ex-servicemen at Haroli Jal Bhawan on Monday. The delegation included office-bearers of the Indian Ex-Servicemen League, Una District Unit, former military officers and ex-servicemen.
Mukesh Agnihotri said that meetings, programmes and other activities could be organised at the Ex-Servicemen Bhawan. This will provide ex-servicemen with a permanent place for organising their programmes. He said that soldiers have played an important role in the security of the country and their contribution should be honoured in civilian life as well.
He said that in keeping with this spirit of honouring soldiers, a tank of the Indian Army has been installed at Ghaluwal so that future generations can also remember the contribution of soldiers in defending the country. He said that issues related to ex-servicemen should be kept separate from politics. Soldiers have served the country and everyone should work together for their honour and welfare.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that the area from Rampur Bridge to Haroli Jal Bhawan is being developed as a Development Corridor under the concept of New Haroli. A helipad, synthetic track, indoor stadium, ATS, Superintending Engineer's office of the Jal Shakti Department, office of the Scheduled Castes Commission, District Court and offices of the Industries Department, along with various other important institutions and facilities, are being developed here. These projects will develop an important institutional and well-equipped area in Haroli.
Indian Ex-Servicemen League Una president Captain Shakti Chandra thanked the Deputy Chief Minister for making land available for the Ex-Servicemen Bhawan and sanctioning funds for its construction.
On the occasion, General Secretary of the Pradesh Congress Committee Ranjit Rana, Block Congress Committee president Sandeep Agnihotri, Lieutenant Indian Navy S.P. Sharma, Subedar Dilwag Singh, Mahendra Singh, Sarwan Singh and Jagtar Singh, among other ex-servicemen, were present.
