Una, 25 September:- An effective action plan will be prepared in Una to provide better employment and self-employment opportunities to youth and develop their work skills in accordance with the needs of industry and the market. Deputy Commissioner Una Jatin Lal said this while presiding over a meeting of the District Skill Committee held at his office today.
Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal directed the officials to immediately establish coordination with the concerned departments for effective implementation of skill development training programmes at the ground level. He directed the concerned departments, including Ayush, Women and Child Development Department, District Tourism Development Officer, Himurja and HPSCB, to carry out necessary correspondence to take forward the possibilities of training.
Keeping future employment requirements in view, he directed that special attention be given to ‘Green Energy Supervisor’ training through Himurja and RPL-based training programmes. He said that in view of changing technology and the requirements of the employment market, training youth in new areas is the need of the hour.
At the same time, important discussions were held on increasing self-employment and livelihood opportunities at the local level, along with improving sanitation and food safety standards. The Deputy Commissioner directed all Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats to organise special skilling and training programmes for street food vendors so that they can receive training in better business skills, sanitation-related information and safe food management. He said that the actual benefit of skill development schemes can be ensured only when different departments work in coordination with each other in a time-bound manner. In addition, youth of the district should be provided training according to their interests, capabilities and local employment opportunities, so that they can be connected with employment and self-employment after completing the training. The District Skill Committee will work towards making skill development activities more effective in the coming period by establishing coordination with various departments.
The meeting also held detailed discussions on various skill development programmes to be conducted by the Himachal Pradesh Skill Development Corporation. Committee Member Secretary Nisha Katoch presented before the committee details of the outline and possibilities of the upcoming RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) and STT (Short Term Training) programmes.
On the occasion, District Employment Officer Akshay Sharma, Tehsil Welfare Officer Una Jatinder Kumar, Akhil Sharma from the Industries Department, along with officers and employees of various departments, were present.
