Una, 26 September:- To take forward the possibilities for expanding tourism and water sports activities at Androuli on the ground, Una Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal conducted a site inspection of the Gobind Sagar Lake area on Saturday. He assessed the potential available in the area, proposed activities and the required infrastructure, and held detailed discussions with the concerned officials regarding development works.
During the inspection, the Deputy Commissioner discussed various aspects related to developing tourism and water sports activities in the area with officials of the Asian Development Bank and the Tourism Board. He directed the officials to ensure better utilization of the potential available in the tourism-important Androuli area and to accord priority to the development of the required infrastructure and facilities.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the KTDS has started the tender process to promote water sports and other sports activities at Androuli. He said that development of these activities would boost tourism in the area and also create new opportunities for employment and self-employment at the local level.
He also directed the concerned officials to identify a paramotoring site in the area so that the potential for adventure tourism could be promoted and new activities could be developed for tourists.
Thereafter, the Deputy Commissioner also inspected the Ethnobotanical Park established at Androuli. He issued necessary directions to the DFO Una for carrying out repair and maintenance works along with other required works in the park. He said that giving the park an improved appearance would help attract tourists visiting the area as well as familiarize them with local biodiversity and traditional flora.
The Deputy Commissioner said that there is vast potential to develop the Androuli area as a major tourism destination by developing tourism, water sports, adventure activities and natural attractions together. He directed the concerned departments to work in coordination and pay special attention to the overall tourism development of the area.
On the occasion, DFO Vikalp Yadav, District Tourism Officer Ravi Dhiman, Tehsildar Amit Kumar, BDO K.L. Verma and officials of various departments were present.
