Preliminary publication of voter lists for Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections on August 19

Hoshiarpur- The State Election Commission, Punjab has issued a timetable for the revision of voter lists for the general elections of Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti to be held by October 5, 2025. Giving information in this regard, Deputy Commissioner - cum - District Election Officer Ashika Jain said that the voter lists, which were earlier published on March 3, 2025, are to be updated as per the eligibility date of September 1, 2025 as per the program received by the State Election Commission.

Giving information in this regard, Deputy Commissioner - cum - District Election Officer Ashika Jain said that the voter lists, which were earlier published on March 3, 2025, are to be updated as per the eligibility date of September 1, 2025 as per the program received by the State Election Commission.
So that it can be ensured that all eligible voters are included. Ashika Jain further informed that the preliminary publication of the existing voter lists will be done on August 19, 2025, on which claims and objections will be taken from August 20 to 27, 2025. He said that the claims and objections will be disposed of by 1st September 2025 and the final publication of the electoral rolls will be done on 3rd September.
He said that the age of the person making a new vote for registration in the electoral roll should be at least 18 years on the eligibility date. Eligible voters can file their application for making a new vote in Form-1, for any objection/deduction of vote in Form-2 and for any amendment in the electoral roll in Form-3. As per Rule 6 (D) of the Punjab Panchayat Election Rules, 1994, a fee of one rupee is to be charged with every claim and objection.
The District Election Officer said that Forms No. 1, 2 and 3 are available in the office of the Electoral Registration Officer and these forms can also be downloaded from the website of the State Election Commission, Punjab, Chandigarh at sec.punjab.gov.in under the Panchayat Elections Statutory Forms item.
