Garhshankar, August 29 - The retirement party of Makhan Singh Wahidpuri, a struggle worker who has made an unparalleled contribution to the field of government service for 38 years, will be held on September 3 at King Resort Golian, Garhshankar, district Hoshiarpur. Makhan Singh was born on August 12, 1967, in the village of Wahidpur, Garhshankar, to father Sohan Lal and mother Shankari Devi. He completed his primary education from village Moila Wahidpur, tenth from Government High School Fatehpur Khurd, Higher Secondary School Garhshankar and ITI 2-year diploma also from Garhshankar.
Makhan Singh Wahidpuri was appointed as a Technical Helper in the Department of Water Supply and Sanitation on 01 August 1987. He served continuously in Kandi Area and Beit Area since 1987. He was promoted from Helper to Junior Technician, Technician 2 and Technician 1.
He clearly refused the promotion of Junior Engineer to serve the organization so that there would be no disruption in the work of the organization. In the year 1988, he became the Secretary of Branch Garhshankar for the first time in the Field and Workshop Workers Union and in the year 1992, he served continuously in the organization by becoming the Vice President of Zone Hoshiarpur. After this, he was elected as the General Secretary of Zone Hoshiarpur for about 9 years and as the President of Zone Hoshiarpur for 10 consecutive years and as the Senior Vice President of the State and as the State General Secretary of the State for 7 years due to his good work in the organization.
Makhan Singh, who was ahead in studies, was the captain of the school's Kabaddi team in the 9th and 10th grades and a wrestling player and also became a player in the fields of struggle. In the year of the employee Jathevandi, he became the State President in 2021 and was elected as the State President for the second time due to intense struggles.
Influenced by Master Harkamal Singh and Comrade Mangat Ram Pansla, he started working. Apart from this organization, he is still working as the District Hoshiarpur President and State Senior Vice President in the Punjab Suba Radinate Services Federation. While working on muster roll, he did not get salary for several months, during the struggle he was stopped many times in police stations like Chabbewal, Balachaur, Garhshankar, Mahilpur, Hoshiarpur, Ludhiana and Chandigarh. In the year 2011, the employees working on muster roll had to go to Chandigarh Burail Jail to get regularized and also had to face a court case.
Makhan Singh made many achievements during the struggle where in the year 2011, about 3400 employees working on muster roll were made permanent, along with the promotion of junior engineers which had been stopped for 12 consecutive years after 2012, and hundreds of employees were promoted as junior engineers. More than 500 employees of grade 4 were promoted.
The ban on increasing the rate of employees working on enlistment in the Water Supply and Sanitation Department for decades was removed. If an employee working on enlistment leaves work or dies, the department would terminate that post, which was also made operational through struggles. Bringing the holidays of grade 3 and 4 employees and other powers to the level below HOD, getting jobs to the heirs of deceased employees within 6 months, etc., are the results of Mukhan Singh's struggles.
He also helped in providing employment to more than 50 children from poor families in various departments. If there is any injustice done to anyone in the village or area, Makhan Singh stands firm and stands at the forefront. He raises his voice against the government. During the Corona period, he served the society and the country by providing food grains, medicines and financial assistance worth more than 3.50 lakh rupees to the people of the village and area during the terrible disease.
Along with this, due to the shortage of teachers in the primary school in his village, he has kept 1 teacher at his own expense. Along with this, if any poor person of the village falls ill, they are taking him to the hospital. His well-wishers hope for his good health and a bright future upon his retirement.
