
Sura government is not discriminating in giving awards and jobs to sportspersons - Sports Minister.
Chandigarh, August 27 - Haryana Minister of State for Sports Mr. Gaurav Gautam said that the government is not discriminating and breaking any promise in giving cash awards and government jobs to the sportspersons of Haryana state who have brought laurels to the state and the country by winning medals in the Olympic Paralympics, Asian/Para Asian Games and many other championships and games.
Chandigarh, August 27 - Haryana Minister of State for Sports Mr. Gaurav Gautam said that the government is not discriminating and breaking any promise in giving cash awards and government jobs to the sportspersons of Haryana state who have brought laurels to the state and the country by winning medals in the Olympic Paralympics, Asian/Para Asian Games and many other championships and games.
He said that the Haryana government has always been in favor of the sportspersons. The Haryana government is providing cash awards to the sportspersons who have brought laurels to the state and the country by winning medals in the Olympic Paralympics, Asian/Para Asian Games and many other championships and games as per the policies issued from time to time.
The Sports Minister was responding to the attention motion moved by some members in the House during the Vidhan Sabha session today.
Mr. Gaurav Gautam said that currently, cash prizes are being given to the state players who have won medals and participated in international and national sports competitions under the Haryana Government's cash prize notification effective from 1.4.2017.
He said that since the year 2014-15 till now, 16409 players have been given cash prizes worth Rs. 641.08 crore. Players can submit their applications for government jobs at any time in the Sports Department office, Panchkula.
The Sports Minister said that since the year 2013-14 till now, 231 players have been offered government jobs by the Haryana Government, out of which a total of 203 jobs have been joined.
He said that during the then Congress government, players who won gold, silver and bronze medals in the Asian Games were given Rs 2 crore and Rs 1 crore and 50 lakh, and Rs 5 lakh for participation, whereas in the current BJP government, players who won gold, silver and bronze medals in the Asian Games were given Rs 3 crore and Rs 1.50 crore and 75 lakh and Rs 7 lakh for participation. He said that the government is dedicated to providing all kinds of facilities and honors to the players.
