Nawanshahr- Using the powers conferred under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Act 2023, District Magistrate Ankurjit Singh has banned the entry/passage of overloaded heavy vehicles (gravel, cement, sand, soil, silt, overloaded sawdust/husk vehicles/trucks, commercially carried goods etc.) in Nawanshahr city from 7 am to 9 pm.
The District Magistrate has informed that overloaded vehicles keep running day and night on the Garhshankar-Nawanshahr road in the district, due to which children going to school in the morning and employees/common people going to office have to face a lot of problems and some major accident keeps happening every day. Due to which there may be loss of life and property and traffic problem persists.
Therefore, the above order has been implemented to prevent accidents occurring daily, safety of life and property of the public and smooth and smooth operation of traffic in the city. This order will remain in effect till January 8, 2026.
