MLA Kuljit Singh Randhawa lays foundation stone of road widening project from Sarseeni to Jhajjon via Tiwana

Derabassi (SAS Nagar), October 3: Fulfilling a long-pending demand of local residents, MLA Derabassi, Kuljit Singh Randhawa today laid the foundation stone of the upgradation and widening of Link Road from Ambala-Chandigarh Highway (village Sarseeni) to Jhajjon via Tiwana. The project, covering a stretch of 4.60 km, will be upgraded to 18 feet width at a cost of Rs 2.41 crore.

The project, covering a stretch of 4.60 km, will be upgraded to 18 feet width at a cost of Rs 2.41 crore.
This vital link road will ease connectivity for the people of Sarseeni, Tiwana, Khajoor Mandi, Sadhapur and Dangdehra by providing them direct and hassle-free access to Rajpura and Patiala also, as the road connects further with the Rajpura–Patiala Highway. Earlier, the road was only 10 feet wide and was badly affected by floods. With the widening to 18 feet, traffic movement will be much smoother.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Randhawa said that this project reflects the S. Bhagwant Singh Mann led Punjab Government’s firm commitment towards balanced and planned development. He added that during the last Vidhan Sabha session, he had strongly raised the issue of upgrading this crucial road which will now benefit thousands of commuters daily.
Highlighting future plans, MLA Randhawa announced that a 100-meter steel bridge across the Ghaggar river at Tiwana village has already been designed at an estimated cost of Rs Eight crore. The tendering process will begin shortly so that work can commence at the earliest, providing a durable and safe passage to the public.
On this occasion, a large number of local residents, Panchs, Sarpanchs, Block President, Chairman Market Committee Derabassi, and members of Aam Aadmi Party joined the foundation stone ceremony and welcomed the initiative with great enthusiasm.
