
Violation of election code: A case has been registered against the owner of Rajpura's Prime Cinema
Patiala, April 9 - An FIR has been registered against the owner-managers of Prime Cinema in Rajpura for violating the election code. Punjab government advertisement was being shown in this cinema despite the election code. The Election Commission has taken action against government advertisements being shown in major cinema halls of Punjab during the Adarsh Election Code.

At the behest of the Election Commission, an FIR has been registered against the owner and management of Prime Cinema and the owner of Cube Cinema. A detailed report is being prepared by the Punjab Election Commission and sent to the Election Commission of India. Taking strict action in the case of violation of election code, Punjab Police has taken this action on the recommendations of Media Certification and Monitoring Committee, Patiala.
On April 6, the CEO's office received a complaint from an RTI activist about gross violation of the election code. In which it was stated that there was a gross violation of the election code by running video advertisements with the logo of the Punjab government and the logo of the Chief Minister. A report was sought from Deputy Commissioner Patiala and after information from Secretary Public Relations Department, Flying Squad visited Prime Cinema. On April 6, a notice was also issued to Paramjit Singh, manager of Prime Cinema Rajpura. On the recommendations of the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee, Patiala, Patiala Police registered a case under Section 188 IPC and 177 IPC against the owners and managers of Prime Cinema and Cube Cinema on April 8.
