
MLA Kulwant Singh inaugurates renovated pond worth Rs 1.68 crore at Sohana
SAS Nagar, September 11, 2025: MLA Kulwant Singh today inaugurated the renovated pond at Sohana, developed at a cost of Rs 1.68 crore by the Municipal Corporation, and also laid the foundation stone of a new Dharamshala in Sohana’s Maingiana Patti, to be built at a cost of Rs 40 lakh. Municipal Commissioner Parminder Pal Singh was also present on the occasion.
SAS Nagar, September 11, 2025: MLA Kulwant Singh today inaugurated the renovated pond at Sohana, developed at a cost of Rs 1.68 crore by the Municipal Corporation, and also laid the foundation stone of a new Dharamshala in Sohana’s Maingiana Patti, to be built at a cost of Rs 40 lakh. Municipal Commissioner Parminder Pal Singh was also present on the occasion.
Interacting with the media, the MLA informed that the pond, spread over 2.25 acres, has been redeveloped to improve public health and provide a recreational space for residents. The pond has been desilted, its embankments strengthened with stone lining, benches installed, and tree plantation carried out. A fountain and fish stocking will further enhance the area, turning it into a local tourist spot. He added that renovation of another pond in Sohana will also be undertaken soon.
Laying the foundation stone of the new Dharamshala, Kulwant Singh stated that it will be built on 2 kanals of land with a 2000 sq. ft. hall, providing affordable space for families to host functions, in place of the old dilapidated structure.
The MLA also heard demands from local residents, including supply of drinking water, sewerage solutions, repair of damaged roads, strengthening of electricity supply, and repair of Anganwadi schools. He assured that these issues would be resolved soon, with canal water supply for drinking to be started shortly and urgent repair works expedited.
Kulwant Singh said that the Punjab Government, under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is committed to all-round development while maintaining communal harmony. He highlighted several welfare measures already implemented, including quality improvement in education, establishment of Aam Aadmi Clinics, and provision of free electricity.
A large number of local residents, municipal officers, and community leaders were present on the occasion.
