
Thalassaemic Charitable Trust Observes “Poshan Maah” and “National Voluntary Blood Donation Day”
Chandigarh: The Department of Transfusion Medicine, PGIMER, Chandigarh, in collaboration with the Thalassaemic Charitable Trust, organized the Trust’s 320th Blood Donation Camp on October 1, 2025. The event was dedicated to the “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan” and National Voluntary Blood Donation Day.
Chandigarh: The Department of Transfusion Medicine, PGIMER, Chandigarh, in collaboration with the Thalassaemic Charitable Trust, organized the Trust’s 320th Blood Donation Camp on October 1, 2025. The event was dedicated to the “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan” and National Voluntary Blood Donation Day.
The camp aimed to support thalassaemia patients and others who require regular blood transfusions. Special arrangements were made for donors, and an information desk was set up to raise awareness about thalassaemia.
Prof. (Dr) R.K. Ratho, Dean (Academics), PGIMER, was the Chief Guest and was received by Prof. (Dr) Ratti Ram Sharma, Head of the Department of Transfusion Medicine, and Mr. Rajinder Kalra, Member Secretary of the Trust. The event began with a cake-cutting ceremony, attended by thalassaemic patients and faculty members.
A total of 66 voluntary donors participated, including Prof. (Dr) Akla Khadwal and Dr. Viney Sood (Finance Secretary, TCT). Senior faculty members commended the Trust for its consistent efforts in patient care and organizing regular blood donation camps.
In their concluding remarks, Prof. (Dr) R.R. Sharma and Mr. Rajinder Kalra thanked all donors and supporters, and extended gratitude to Unipro Techno Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd. for its continued assistance to thalassaemia patients.
The event concluded with an appeal to the public to understand the importance of voluntary blood donation and contribute to saving lives.
