Jamhuri Kisan Sabha sends memorandum to Chief Minister regarding demands of flood victims.

Garhshankar- Jamhuri Kisan Sabha is sending memorandums to Chief Minister Punjab through Deputy Commissioners and SDMs across the state to provide adequate compensation for the loss of life and property of the people due to the terrible floods in Punjab. In this regard, Jamhuri Kisan Sabha unit Garhshankar led by Giani Avtar Singh gave the memorandum to the Superintendent of SDM office Garhshankar because SDM Sahib was not present in the office due to some engagement.

At this time, the secretary of the unit Ram Ji Das Chauhan, while mentioning the demands, said that compensation of Rs. 10 lakh per person should be given to the people who died due to the flood, Rs. 70 thousand per acre should be given for the destroyed crops, Rs. 1 lakh per acre should be given for the sugarcane crop, the compensation amount should be given to the actual cultivator only.
Landless families in flood-affected areas should be given Rs 10,000 per family, Rs 1 lakh per animal should be given for dead animals, Rs 10 lakh per house should be given for collapsed houses, compensation should be given separately for destroyed gardens, trees, poultry farms, agricultural machinery, installments of bank loans should be advanced, advance arrangements should be made to prevent diseases caused by floods.
Strict steps should be taken to prevent possible corruption in government assistance given to flood victims, damaged roads and bridges etc. should be repaired as soon as possible. The Office Superintendent assured that the demand letter would be sent to the higher authorities with recommendations.
