
Punjab floods; AAP demands Rs 20,000 crore relief package before PM Modi's visit.
Chandigarh- Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the flood-affected areas of Punjab on September 9. Ahead of the Prime Minister's visit, Aam Aadmi Party Punjab President and Cabinet Minister Aman Arora said that the Prime Minister should immediately release Rs 20,000 crore for the state during his visit to flood-affected Punjab. Talking to reporters here, Aman Arora said that the Prime Minister should not just go back after taking photos but should definitely provide some relief package to Punjab, which is reeling under the impact of floods.

Arora said that more than 2,000 villages in 23 districts have been affected due to floods in Punjab, where crops on about four and a half lakh acres have been affected and four dozen people have died. He said that so far, Punjab has suffered a loss of about Rs 20,000 crore. In such a situation, the Central Government should hold the arm of Punjab. Aman Arora said that Punjab already has a pending debt of Rs 60,000 crore towards the central government.
The central government should also release that amount on priority basis. It is noteworthy that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the flood-affected areas of Punjab on September 9. During this, the Prime Minister will land from Kangra in Himachal Pradesh to Pathankot Airbase in Punjab, from where he will start his Punjab tour. During this, the Prime Minister can also hold a meeting with Punjab officials.

Punjab Water Resources Minister Birender Goyal said that Punjab has suffered a loss of Rs 20 to 25,000 crore due to floods so far. Therefore, the central government should immediately release a special relief package. He said that lakhs of acres of crops, 3300 school and college buildings, people's houses and livestock have been affected in Punjab due to floods. Therefore, the central government should take immediate action to support Punjab.
Cabinet Minister Varinder Goyal said that if Prime Minister Narendra Modi is coming to Punjab tomorrow, he must give some relief package to Punjab. He said that earlier Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had come to Punjab, but instead of giving anything to Punjab, he left blaming mining for the floods. He said that this is not the time to blame anyone but to take concrete decisions to help the people, for which the Central Government should take the lead and play its role.
Hospitals and other health infrastructure suffered a loss of Rs 780 crore due to floods: Dr Balbir Singh
Health Minister Dr Balbir Singh said that the health department has suffered a loss of crores of rupees due to floods in Punjab. He said that hospitals and other health infrastructure have suffered a loss of more than Rs 780 crore due to floods in the state. In this, about one thousand dispensaries, about 100 community health centers and 31 sub-divisional hospitals have been affected.
