
Post-flood activities in SAS Nagar:
Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, September 07: Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal today directed the municipal councils and the officials of the rural development and panchayat department to intensify efforts to drain the standing water in the flood-affected areas so that the people can get immediate relief.

He further said that the cleaning of the Mubarakpur Causeway on the Ghaggar river in Derabassi - which is also a major link connecting to Zirakpur - is in full swing. Along with the cleaning work, the local municipal council teams are actively engaged in repairing the approach roads of the causeway to ensure smooth connectivity.
He said that along with this, efforts are on to drain the water accumulated between Bhagat Majra and Palheri. Necessary machinery and manpower have been deployed by the district administration to drain the water and restore normalcy in the affected areas.
The Deputy Commissioner also stressed on the timely restoration of road connectivity across the district. Instructions have been issued to repair potholes and damaged sections to ensure smooth movement of vehicles and minimize public inconvenience.
Besides, the Deputy Commissioner directed the officials to clear the premises of the government school at the earliest so that normal education activities can resume from Tuesday.
Besides, the assessment of damage to crops, livestock and houses has already started, and the administration has assured that compensation will be distributed to the affected families soon.
He reiterated that the administration is fully committed to addressing the post-flood challenges on priority basis and assured the public of constant vigilance till the situation normalizes.
