Rising Sun Campaign: Relief and hope reached the flood-affected people under the leadership of DC Ashika Jain.

Hoshiarpur- Floods at many places in Hoshiarpur district affected many villages, but the skillful leadership of Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain turned this disaster into a wave of service and cooperation. Under the "Rising Sun Campaign", the district administration and NGOs have jointly carried out relief work in a planned and humane manner, which has become an example for the district. Relief and rehabilitation work is progressing rapidly in the flood-affected areas of the district.

Under the leadership of Red Cross Society, Unnati Cooperative Society, Baba Deep Singh Welfare Society, Guru Nanak Sewa Society (Village Gera, Mukerian), Doaba Kisan Sangharsh Committee, Humanity First, Sarbat Da Bhala Sewa Society, Gurdwara Chhevin Patshahi Pulpukhta, Village Passi Bet, Village Giljian, Village Naushehra Pattan, Lions Club Tanda, Paint and Hardware Association, Guru Ramdas Sewa Society and other social workers, the work of providing langar, feeding animals and other relief works has been intensified. Apart from this, Baba Deep Singh Welfare Society and Civil Defense volunteers have made special efforts to take people to safe places. Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain said that so far relief material has been delivered to more than 1225 flood victims. Tarpaulins and sanitation kits were provided to 375 people in village Abdullapur of Tanda, 150 people in village Jhingarwan of Talwara, 300 people in Mehtabpur of Mukerian, 100 people in Haled, 200 people in Koliya and 100 affected people in Miyani Malah. Unnati Sahakari Sabha ensured three meals a day for 150 victims in Jhingarwan relief camp.
The Red Cross Society has also safely stored 2000 sanitation kits, tarpaulins, mosquito nets, mattresses and water filters keeping in mind future needs.
The administration has paid special attention to health services. So far, 8 medical camps have been set up, in which medicines and necessary tests have been provided. Mobile medical teams are visiting the affected villages and distributing medicines, ORS packets and chlorine tablets. Also, the health department is keeping a close watch on communicable and vector-borne diseases.
The Deputy Commissioner said that 16 district rapid response teams and 24 mobile teams are on alert to deal with any emergency. He said that our aim is not only to provide relief but also to assure the affected families that the entire district administration and society stands with them. This crisis is further strengthening the strength of our unity.
