Civil Surgeon Dr. Sangeeta Jain and District Epidemiologist Dr. Anamika Soni said that under the leadership of senior health officers of the district, health workers, ASHA workers, students of nursing colleges checked containers to find mosquito larvae responsible for dengue fever and inspected other possible places where mosquitoes breed.
The people present at the spot were also explained in detail about the symptoms, causes, prevention and treatment of dengue fever. The inspection teams mainly included members of the Rural Health and Sanitation Committees and Residents Welfare Associations.
The Civil Surgeon said that on the instructions of the Punjab Government, the ‘Every Friday, Fight Dengue’ campaign is going on in full swing in the entire district. While the officers and other staff are conducting house-to-house surveys, the process of issuing challans is also being done. During the survey, containers, pots, coolers, refrigerators, boxes and other items are being checked. He said that the only effective way to avoid dengue is to not let water stagnate at any place.
Dr. Jain said that the larva of the mosquito that spreads dengue fever takes the form of a dangerous mosquito in a few days, which can also take the life of a person. He said that there is no fixed season for dengue fever, but usually this fever is more from July to the end of November.
