Garhshankar 10 January- A delegation of Democratic Teachers Front Punjab (DTF) led by the State Joint Secretary of the organization Mukesh Gujarati met the Honorable Deputy Commissioner Hoshiarpur Shri Komal Mittal ji regarding change in timings of schools and offices due to severe cold and dense fog prevailing in Punjab and handed over a demand letter in this regard.
Through this demand letter, the delegation of the union demanded from the Deputy Commissioner that due to the severe cold and dense fog prevailing at this time, the visibility on the roads becomes very low in the morning, due to which major road accidents are happening every morning in the state. In such a situation, it becomes very risky for the students, teachers and employees going to school early in the morning to go to the office. In cold and fog, students easily fall prey to diseases like cold and cough.
Therefore, the delegation demanded that the opening time of schools and offices in the morning should be 10 am instead of 9 am and the closing time of all primary and secondary schools should be 3 pm. The Honorable Deputy Commissioner Sahiba assured the delegation that she will soon talk to the Education Secretary Punjab and get the timings of schools and offices changed.
On this occasion, District Police Chief Mr. Surinder Lamba and District Education Officer (Secondary Education) Madam Lalita Arora were also present. Teacher leaders like lecturer Manjit Singh, Parminder Singh Kot Fatuhi, Jagmohan Singh Dholwaha and Prashottam Singh were also present in this delegation.
