Insurance process and benefits
Dr Kulbhushan Dhiman said that under the weather based crop insurance scheme, the crops of potato growers of Una and Haroli blocks will be insured by the Agriculture Insurance Company. Farmers can get their crops insured till 31 December. Under this scheme, the farmer will get a premium of Rs 25 per canal and an insured amount of Rs 5,000. He said that the non-loanee farmers who want to get their crops insured can get their crops insured by submitting necessary documents such as Aadhaar card, bank passbook, land fard and crop sowing certificate at their nearest Lok Mitra Kendra and farmers who do farming by taking land on contract can get their crops insured by getting an affidavit made. The crops of loanee farmers are automatically insured by the bank branches.

He also informed that in the past years, farmers have benefited a lot from the insurance scheme. For example, in 2022, a claim of Rs 1 crore 60 lakh was given on a premium of Rs 34 lakh 30 thousand, while in 2023, a claim of Rs 3 crore 85 lakh was distributed on a premium of Rs 84 lakh 95 thousand.
