Ludhiana, March 18- Addressing a rally of Aam Aadmi Party workers here today, AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal announced that an all-out war against drugs will begin in Punjab. It will begin with a mass movement from April 1. On this occasion, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that those who brought drugs to our villages and destroyed generations will not be spared.
On this occasion, Kejriwal said that the previous governments have played a big role in the spread of drugs. Drugs were not produced in Punjab. He said that we all know which party's ministers distributed drugs to every house for money. He said that a former Chief Minister, holding Gutka Sahib in his hand, swore to eliminate drugs in four weeks but he did not even step out of his house for five years while the drugs increased day by day.
In the last 20 days, the houses of drug smugglers are being demolished by bulldozers. Drugs worth crores of rupees have been seized. For the first time, a government has dared to confront these smugglers. On the threat of Pakistan, Kejriwal revealed that 70 percent of drugs in Punjab come from Pakistan through drones. To combat this, anti-drone systems are being purchased. Apart from this, 5000 new police personnel will be recruited with the help of BSF and they will be deployed on the border.
He promised to build treatment facilities and playgrounds across Punjab for the rehabilitation of drug-affected youth. Kejriwal appreciated the efforts of Punjab Police in the fight against drugs. And appealed to the citizens to report drug-related activities on the helpline number (9779100200).
He also announced a statewide drug census to identify the affected families and ensure proper treatment. He said that corruption will not be tolerated. Changes are being made in the system to make corruption impossible.
Bhagwant Mann targets Badals
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann targeted the Badals and the Akali Dal and accused them of betraying Punjab and its people during their rule. He said that the Badals treated Punjab as their personal property, pushing the state towards economic and social destruction. The drug and mafia rule progressed in their rule, which destroyed countless families.
He said that the Akali Dal has no moral place today. On this occasion, he shared an incident related to drugs in village Narangwal of Ludhiana, where a woman openly challenged the authorities. They took swift action on it, raided the building and demolished the house. The villagers thanked them and celebrated by paying obeisance at the gurdwara.
