Bengaluru, February 28- Bengaluru's first fast track court on Friday issued summons to former Karnataka Chief Minister and BJP Central Parliamentary Committee member BS Yediyurappa in connection with the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act case. He has been ordered to appear before the court on March 15.
The court has also issued summons to the other accused in the case, YM Aruna and Rudresh Marulsidiah, and has asked them to appear in the court on the same day.
The court passed these orders after considering the chargesheet filed by the police in the case. Earlier, Yediyurappa had been granted immunity from summons by the High Court in this case.
Yediyurappa celebrated his 83rd birthday on Thursday and on this occasion he announced that he will embark on a statewide tour to strengthen the BJP and bring it back to power in the state. Earlier on February 7, the Karnataka High Court had refused to quash the charges against the BJP leader in this case. The High Court had, however, granted anticipatory bail to Yediyurappa in the court, which gave him immunity from arrest.
The decision was given by a bench headed by Justice M Nagaprasanna and sent the case back to the POCSO court. The court has also refused to quash the charge sheet filed against Yediyurappa.
