Cross-border smuggling racket busted.

Amritsar:- Acting on a tip-off received during the drive to make Punjab a safe state as per the directions of Chief Minister Mann, Amritsar Commissionerate Police has arrested three persons involved in cross-border arms and hawala network. This information was given by Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav here on Thursday.

The arrested persons have been identified as Harpreet Singh (23), a resident of village Kot Mehtab in Amritsar, Gurpal Singh (21), a resident of village Sursingh in Tarn Taran and Ranjodh Singh (33), a resident of village Wiring in Tarn Taran. The police teams have recovered 2.02 kg heroin, four pistols - one Glock and three .30 bore pistols, Rs 3.5 lakh hawala money and the motorcycles of the accused.
Sharing details of the operation, Commissioner of Police (CP) Amritsar Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that accused Harpreet and Gurpal were earlier arrested along with a motorcycle carrying 220 grams of heroin. On their information, police teams recovered 1.8 kg heroin and two .30 bore pistols from a designated place.
