
Quarterly meeting of District Vigilance and Awareness Committee organized
Una, December 31: The quarterly meeting of the District Vigilance and Awareness Committee, constituted to provide the right to equality in the society to the people of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Act and to prevent caste discrimination and atrocities, was held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of DC Una, Jatin Lal.
Relief amount of Rs 12 lakh released in 9 cases: Jatin Lal
Una, December 31: The quarterly meeting of the District Vigilance and Awareness Committee, constituted to provide the right to equality in the society to the people of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Act and to prevent caste discrimination and atrocities, was held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of DC Una, Jatin Lal.
The Deputy Commissioner said that under this Act, along with providing punishment, there is a provision to provide legal protection and rehabilitation relief to the victim in the form of an amount ranging from one lakh to 8 lakh 25 thousand rupees. The first installment of which is paid on filing an FIR, the second installment on presenting the case in the court and the remaining amount is paid on the verdict.
He informed that out of 19 cases registered under SC ST Act in Una district from January to the end of November this year, after investigation, the police has removed the section of SC ST Act in 5 cases. So far, relief amount of Rs 12 lakh has been provided to the victims in 9 cases. Action is going on in the remaining cases.
Give priority to providing prompt justice to the victims: Sudarshan Bablu
Chintpurni Vidhan Sabha MLA Sudarshan Singh Bablu, who was specially present in the meeting, said that the present state government is aware of the rights of SC ST class and Chief Minister Mr. Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has implemented the welfare schemes of this class very effectively. He told the officers to give priority to complete prevention of atrocities under the SC ST Act and to provide speedy justice to the victims and take the cases registered under this Act seriously and ensure commitment for quick solution.
District Welfare Officer Anita Sharma, ASP Surendra Singh, Tehsil Welfare Officer Una Jitendra Kumar, Amb Rakesh Kumar and Bangana Vivek Kumar, non-official members Lekhraj Bharti, Subhash Chand, Pradhan Gram Panchayat Dulahad Kamal Chand, Sister Sanjana from Prem Ashram participated in the meeting.
