
Mohali court sends Bikram Majithia to seven-day police remand.
Mohali, June 26 – The Mohali district court has sent Shiromani Akali Dal senior leader Bikram Singh Majithia to seven-day police remand in the drug money and disproportionate assets cases. However, the vigilance team had sought Majithia’s 12-day remand during the arguments in the court.

Majithia will now be produced in the court again on July 2. The vigilance team had taken the Akali leader into custody from his residence in Green Avenue in Amritsar the previous day.
Earlier today, Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia was produced in the Mohali district court around 12 noon. In view of the court appearance, the district court complex was converted into a police cantonment.
After being taken into custody on Wednesday, he was brought to the Vigilance Bureau headquarters in Phase-8 here.
After being questioned, Majithia is to be produced in the Mohali court today. DIG Rupnagar Range Harcharan Singh Bhullar and Mohali SSP Harmanjit Singh Hans are personally leading the security arrangements. Both the gates of the Mohali court have been barricaded. Meanwhile, the media is not allowed to enter the court complex and employees are also being allowed to enter the complex only after showing their ID cards.
Meanwhile, Bikram Majithia's lawyer Advocate Arshdeep Singh Kler and a team of lawyers have reached the court. Youth Akali Dal President Sarabjit Singh Jhinjar and Akali workers from different places have started reaching the spot.
Meanwhile, as soon as a large number of Akali workers started gathering outside the Mohali court, the police took more than two dozen Akali leaders and workers present there into custody and put them in buses and took them away. Among the leaders detained during this time are Parvinder Singh Sohana and other senior leaders.
It is worth mentioning that on the statements of Punjab Vigilance Bureau AIG Swarandeep Singh, a case has been registered against former Akali Minister Bikram Singh Majithia under FIR No. 22 on June 25 at the Vigilance Bureau's Mohali headquarters under Section 13(1) B, R/W 13(2) of the PB Act 1988 and Amendment Act 2018.
