SAS Nagar, July 14: In a continued crackdown under the “Yudh Nasheya Virudh” campaign, Mohali Police today carried out a demolition drive in Jujhar Nagar village, under the jurisdiction of Police Station Balongi. The action was taken against a father-son duo involved in 12 criminal cases, including multiple under the NDPS and Excise Acts.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Harmandeep Singh Hans informed that the operation was conducted as per the standing directions of Punjab Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann and Director General of Police, Sh. Gaurav Yadav. The illegal construction was demolished in response to a request by the Department of Rural Development and Panchayats, which had flagged the encroachment on Panchayat land.
SSP Hans disclosed that Malkit Singh, son of Karam Chand, has seven FIRs registered against him from 2018 to 2024. These include two cases under the NDPS Act, three under the Excise Act, and two others under the IPC.
His son, Happy, has five FIRs to his name registered at the Balongi Police Station between 2018 and 2025. These include two under the NDPS Act, one under the Excise Act, and two others under IPC and the newly introduced BNS (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita).
“The Mohali Police has zero tolerance for drug smugglers who are destroying the future of Punjab's youth,” said SSP Hans. “When the Panchayat Department sought our assistance in reclaiming illegally encroached land, a police team led by DSP Kharar-1, Karan Sandhu, was deployed to maintain law and order during the demolition.”
SSP Hans, who was accompanied by SP (PBI) Ms. Deepika Singh, reiterated the department’s unwavering commitment to taking strict action against those involved in drug trafficking. “This strong and exemplary action is a message to all anti-social elements—anyone involved in this illicit trade will face the full force of the law,” he asserted.
