Talking to the media after the meeting, Shiromani Committee President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said that this is a very serious national matter, for which it is very important to form a national opinion. He said that the Shiromani Committee has been fighting a legal battle in this regard for a long time, but the governments are adamantly violating human rights in this matter. He said that despite the Honorable Supreme Court asking the government to take a decision on the matter, the government's attitude is extremely regrettable. He said that it is the duty of governments to treat everyone equally in their work style, but the approach being adopted regarding an important matter related to the sentiments of the Sikh community raises questions about the government's intentions.
Advocate Dhami said that when Bhai Rajoana was met yesterday, he had asked the Shiromani Committee to withdraw his petition. For this, meetings have been held with Sikh organizations, Sikh intellectuals and federations to discuss it. Today's meeting has been held in this context. He said that although Bhai Rajoana's anger over the petition is justified and he is firm on his beliefs, it would not be right to take a hasty decision in this matter.
