
Bathinda: 3 health officials suspended in Rs 30 lakh oil scam.
Bathinda, June 30 – The Health Department has suspended three officials, including a senior medical officer, in connection with the alleged Rs 30 lakh oil scam at the Civil Hospital in Bathinda. The suspended officials include Dr. Gurmail Singh, currently posted as Senior Medical Officer (CMO) in Sunam in Sangrur district; Sheenam Singla, a junior assistant; and Jagjit Singh, a data entry operator.
Bathinda, June 30 – The Health Department has suspended three officials, including a senior medical officer, in connection with the alleged Rs 30 lakh oil scam at the Civil Hospital in Bathinda. The suspended officials include Dr. Gurmail Singh, currently posted as Senior Medical Officer (CMO) in Sunam in Sangrur district; Sheenam Singla, a junior assistant; and Jagjit Singh, a data entry operator.
Confirming the action, Bathinda Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr. Ramandeep Singh said, “Three officials, including Dr. Gurmail Singh, who was the SMO of Bathinda, have been suspended for their alleged involvement in the oil scam. We have received the suspension orders today. The Vigilance Bureau is already investigating the matter.”
According to sources, fuel bills were approved for government vehicles and ambulances, these vehicles were not in use. The Vigilance Bureau, acting on complaints of false fuel claims and misuse of funds, has obtained the relevant records and started an investigation.
It has been learnt that Dr. Gurmail had already been transferred from Bathinda to Sunam after the initial complaints related to the scam. This scam has raised big questions on the performance of the health department. The Vigilance Bureau is still investigating this matter and it is being said that other officers may also come under the purview of this investigation.
