
Polling stations equipped with basic facilities will be available in Una district
Una, May 3:- District Election Officer Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal said that 100 percent minimum basic facilities have been ensured at all the polling stations in Una district. 516 polling stations have been set up in the district. The availability of necessary facilities for the voters has been ensured as per the guidelines of the Election Commission.

All necessary arrangements including shady places, ramps for disabled voters, wheelchairs, drinking water for all, toilets, medical kits have been made at the polling stations for the convenience of the people. Volunteers will also be deployed to assist people at polling stations.
Jatin Lal gave this information in the meeting held by Chief Electoral Officer Manish Garg through video conference from Shimla on Friday. In the meeting, the Chief Electoral Officer took details of the district-wise arrangements. During this, all the election officers were also informed in detail about the standard operating procedure prepared regarding voting through postal ballot papers.
Let us tell you, out of 516 polling centers in Una district, 25 polling centers will be operated by women workers. In each assembly constituency, 5-5 polling stations will be operated by women workers. Apart from this, 1 polling center in every assembly constituency will be operated by youth personnel, the responsibility of their operation will be handled by youth personnel below 30 years of age. Apart from this, a total of 20 model polling centers have been created in the district, out of which there will be 4-4 model polling centers assembly wise.
4243 licensed weapons have been collected
The Chief Electoral Officer appreciated the efforts of the district administration for the promising progress in the work of collecting licensed weapons in view of the elections in Una district. He expressed satisfaction over achieving the target of 85 per cent, going beyond the 60 per cent figure presented in the last meeting in the district.
The Deputy Commissioner said that by working rapidly in the last few days, 4243 weapons out of total 5122 licensed weapons have been collected in the district, work is going on to collect the remaining. Some of these arms license holders fall in the exempted category, while there are also cases in which the license holder lives outside the district.
Postal Department should distribute voter ID cards on priority
After the meeting, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mahendra Pal Gurjar took details of the distribution of EPIC cards from the officials of the Postal Department and instructed them to do the distribution of voter identity cards on priority. A total of 19590 voter identity cards have been made under Form 6 and 8 in the district in the last few days. Most of these have been distributed through the postal department. He asked to make extra efforts to schedule the remaining work and achieve 100% delivery target. For this, the Postal Department was instructed to speed up the work by appointing a nodal officer.
During the video conference, apart from Additional Deputy Commissioner Mahendra Pal Gurjar, Tehsildar Election Suman Kapoor and other officers were present in the VC room.
