Una, April 19 - Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal has stressed on the coordinated efforts of everyone to make Una district drug free. He asked the concerned departments including police, medical, education and social welfare to organize intensive awareness camps and conduct intensive inspection campaigns in the district with better coordination.

Giving instructions to increase surveillance in the district, he said that drug smugglers should be closely monitored so that they do not escape under any circumstances. Strictest action should be taken against them.
The Deputy Commissioner was presiding over the meeting of the District Level Coordination Committee formed under the National Narco Coordination Portal (NCORD) held at Bachat Bhawan Una on Friday.
In the meeting, various aspects related to the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, including the arrest of criminals, were discussed in detail.
Be more cautious in border areas
With a view to making the district drug free, Jatin Lal asked the police to be more vigilant in the border areas and work with proper coordination. Work to prevent illegal activities in these areas. Apart from this, he also asked to pay attention to good coordination with the police stations of other nearby districts so that any kind of illegal activity can be stopped immediately.
Plan sensitization program for youth
The Deputy Commissioner asked the concerned officers to prepare a comprehensive action plan for organizing awareness camps in the district. He directed to plan a sensitization program for the youth about drug addiction with the participation of school principals, students and all stakeholders related to the tourism sector.
Sports activities should be held in Panchayats.
The Deputy Commissioner said that to keep the youth away from drugs, emphasis was laid on organizing various sports activities in schools, colleges as well as at the Panchayat level. He said that such activities will inspire the young generation to live a healthy life by staying away from drugs. Their energy will get the right direction. He also asked to organize public awareness camps regarding the ill effects of drugs.
