Amritsar, April 18- Strongly condemning the incident of desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji in village Noorpur Jattan near Garhshankar, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said that due to the failure of the Punjab government, the morale of anti-social elements has increased and such incidents are taking place.
Advocate Dhami said that Sri Guru Granth Sahib guides us in life, it is the responsibility of the administrators and the Sangat to maintain its dignity and take care of the Guru Ghar vigilantly. He said that due to the negligence of some Gurudwara Committees, such tragic incidents take place, which hurts the sentiments of the entire Sikh community.
The SGPC President said that today many Gurudwaras have been built in every locality of villages/cities, but no attention is being paid to their maintenance. He said that it is desirable that each village should have only one Gurdwara and the entire Sangat should cooperate in the management. He said that if there is only one Gurdwara in a village, then the entire village can work together to improve the management and make security mandatory.
For this, work should be done under a joint initiative. He appealed to the Sangat to adopt a sincere approach for the security of the Guru Ghar and asked them to ensure that initiatives are taken to establish committees of Gursikhs with a spirit of service in the villages so that such incidents are not faced. Advocate Dhami also criticized the government for the deteriorating law and order situation.
Questioning the performance of the Punjab government, the SGPC president said that incidents of sacrilege are continuously happening in the state, but the government did not consider it appropriate to pay attention to this, let alone take action. This is the irresponsible attitude of the present Punjab government towards Sikh concerns, which is condemnable. Advocate Dhami asked the government to give up its miserly policy and expose those who hurt religious sentiments and get the culprits punished severely.

Meanwhile, SGPC Secretary S. Pratap Singh said that on receiving information about this tragic incident, a team was sent under the leadership of the Chief Granthi of Takht Shri Kesgarh Sahib as per the orders of SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami. Who decorated the three holy forms of Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji present in Gurdwara Sahib in Gurdwara Shri Mahilpur Shaheedan Ladhewal. Till the arrangements are not fixed, these forms will not be given. He appealed to the administrators of all the gurdwaras to be vigilant.
