
Flying squad formed to take action against those giving and taking bribe

Una, March 18 - Giving information, District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal said that the Model Code of Conduct has been implemented in the district under the Lok Sabha elections 2024. He said that flying squads have been formed to register cases against both givers and take bribes and take action against those involved in intimidating and threatening voters during the election process. He urged all citizens to refrain from taking any kind of bribe and if any person is offered bribe or has information about cases of bribery and voter intimidation then he should report to the complaint cell established at the district level. Complaint can be made on toll free number 1950.
He said that according to Section 171-C of the Indian Penal Code, a person who threatens to cause any kind of injury to a candidate or elector or any other person will be punished with imprisonment of one year or fine or both.
Jatin Lal said that any person who gives or accepts any gratification in cash or kind during the election process with the purpose of inducing any person to exercise his electoral right, shall be punished with imprisonment of up to one year or with fine or Will be punished by both.
Apart from this, he has instructed all the correspondent newspapers of District Una not to publish any kind of advertisement of political nature received from political parties/election contesting candidates or any other organization without prior certification of MCMC constituted in the office of District Public Relations Officer.
