"Poota" challenged the appointment of Punjabi University Vice Chancellor Dr. Arvind

Patiala, March 1 - Punjabi University Teachers Association (Poota) has challenged the appointment of Punjabi University Vice Chancellor Dr Arvind in the High Court. The association's lawyer Hardeep Singh has sent a notice to the Union of India, Principal Secretary Punjab Government, Ministry of Education Government of India, UGC and VC of Punjabi University, the next hearing will be held on April 10.

Patiala, March 1 - Punjabi University Teachers Association (Poota) has challenged the appointment of Punjabi University Vice Chancellor Dr Arvind in the High Court. The association's lawyer Hardeep Singh has sent a notice to the Union of India, Principal Secretary Punjab Government, Ministry of Education Government of India, UGC and VC of Punjabi University, the next hearing will be held on April 10.
A writ petition was filed in the High Court on February 26 through advocate Hardeep Singh Saini challenging the appointment of VC Dr Arvind as Vice Chancellor by the Punjabi University Teachers Association (PUTA). In this petition, the advocate has said that Dr. Arvind did not fulfill the necessary conditions for the appointment of the Vice-Chancellor. In this regard, inquiry committees were formed by the Ministry of Education of the Government of India, who after the inquiry sent their report to the Central Government. On the basis of which the appointment of Dr. Arvind as Associate Professor and Professor has not been approved yet. According to Hardeep Singh, Dr Arvind does not fulfill the required 10 years of experience as a professor under UGC norms for appointment to the post of VC. Due to which he is ineligible for appointment to this post. Advocate Hardeep Singh said that on February 28, 2024, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has issued a notice of motion after a thorough hearing of the matter.
