Krishi Vigyan Kendra celebrated Khet Day

Patiala, March 12 - A Khet Day-cum-Training Camp was organized by Punjab Agriculture University's Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Patiala at village Alowal on proper management of stubble. About 100 farmers participated in this farm day. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Gurupdesh Kaur, in-charge of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Patiala, informed the present farmers about the activities of KVK, maintenance of crops and provision of nutritious food. Dr. Rajni Goyal, Professor (Food Science) shared information about setting up agro processing units.

   Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Gurupdesh Kaur, in-charge of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Patiala, informed the present farmers about the activities of KVK, maintenance of crops and provision of nutritious food. Dr. Rajni Goyal, Professor (Food Science) shared information about setting up agro processing units. Dr Rachna Singla, Professor (Horticulture) explained about the cultivation of fruit trees and proper use of straw. Along with this, awareness was given about the damage caused to the environment by stubble burning and the destruction of nutrients in the soil. Dr Gurpreet Singh Sidhu Assistant Professor (Crop Science) encouraged the farmers to adopt crop diversification. On this occasion, discussed about surface seeder technology for stubble management with enterprising farmers from Alowal village and nearby villages. Progressive farmer Shamsher Singh thanked Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Rauni, Patiala for setting up an agriculture camp at this village. Jarnail Singh, a progressive farmer requested the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Rauni to conduct such agricultural programs frequently in this village so that the farmers can get useful information. On this occasion, agricultural literature and vegetable kits were also provided to the farmers. In the end, Dr. Rachna Singla thanked the farmers who came.
