
Dr. Parvendra Sheoran, Director, ICAR-Attari visited PAU Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hoshiarpur
Hoshiarpur- Dr. Parvendra Sheoran, Director, Indian Council of Agricultural Research Attari, Zone-1, Ludhiana, visited PAU-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hoshiarpur on July 13, 2025. Dr. Maninder Singh Bains, Associate Director (Training), Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hoshiarpur welcomed Dr. Parvendra Sheoran and gave a brief information about the extension activities of Krishi Vigyan Kendra.
Hoshiarpur- Dr. Parvendra Sheoran, Director, Indian Council of Agricultural Research Attari, Zone-1, Ludhiana, visited PAU-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hoshiarpur on July 13, 2025. Dr. Maninder Singh Bains, Associate Director (Training), Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hoshiarpur welcomed Dr. Parvendra Sheoran and gave a brief information about the extension activities of Krishi Vigyan Kendra.
During this visit, Dr. Parvendra Sheoran briefed the scientists of Krishi Vigyan Kendra on proper management of paddy stubble, adoption of recommended crop varieties and conservation of natural resources, especially water and fertilizers. He stressed on the proper use of pesticides.
He also stressed on the need for holistic pest management and adoption of organic farming to reduce dependence on chemical pesticides. Dr. Sheyoran also stressed on the need to promote integrated farming systems for small farmers, increase farmers' income through mushroom production, agro-processing, beekeeping, poultry farming, goat farming and animal husbandry to bring value-added technologies to the farmers.
Dr. Sheyoran also visited the seed farm, laboratories, various demonstration units at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, including beekeeping, home garden of vegetables and fruits, medicinal plant garden, biogas plant running on paddy straw, animal husbandry, goat farming unit, direct sowing and mechanized paddy exhibitions, technology park and other experiences and appreciated the work of KVK.
Dr. Sheoran also visited the award-winning "The Lambra Kangri Multipurpose Cooperative Service Society, Limited" located in Lambra village of the district. He said that this cooperative society has emerged as an ideal cooperative society and he appreciated its multifaceted and innovative works.
In addition, he also visited the fields of award-winning progressive farmers associated with Krishi Vigyan Kendra S. Narinder Singh, village Ajjowal and Mr. Gurdeep Singh, village Kot Fatuhi and appreciated their efforts.
Finally, Dr. Ajaib Singh, Assistant Professor (Agricultural Engineering), Krishi Vigyan Kendra Hoshiarpur thanked Dr. Sheoran for his visit to Krishi Vigyan Kendra and the valuable suggestions he gave and the invaluable support being given for the smooth functioning of KVK.
