Patiala, November 6 - In the 37th convocation of Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, a famous educational institution of North India, degrees were awarded to more than 3 thousand students and medals were distributed to 41 toppers today. Apart from this, degrees were also awarded to 103 PhD candidates. He said that it is an annual program in which degrees are awarded. Both Tarun Kapoor and Robin Raina, past toppers of the college and Central Government Secretary Youth Affairs Mita Rajivlochan IAS, attended the function as the Chief Guest.
Talking to the media after the convocation, the chairman of the board of directors of the institute RR Vadhera said that the satellite is being launched by this educational institution and all its work will be done by the students of the institute. It will be launched in two months. Satellite of Thapar University will be launched by ISRO for free. He further said that we are working on five big projects, in which apart from satellites, stubble management projects and village pond cleaning projects are also included. He said that Thapar University never works for profit, whatever money comes, it is spent only for the maintenance of the institution and new projects. He also said that every year 3 thousand new students are enrolled in the undergraduate program in Thapar University and a total of 12 to 13 thousand children are studying. In response to a question, he said that he would take up the matter with the Thapar University administration regarding fee waiver for bright but economically weak children. On this occasion, Deputy Director of the University Dr. Ajay Batish was also present.
