Hoshiarpur- In a press note issued by former cabinet minister and senior BJP leader Tikshan Sood, expressing his condolences on the recent tragic deaths of about 20 people in villages Mardi Kalan, Jayantipur and Bhagali Kalan of Majitha area, he said that this is the fourth incident of death due to consumption of poisonous liquor in the last 3 years of Mann government.
The government did not learn any lesson from the first incident, that is why one painful incident after another is happening. He mocked the "war against drugs" and took a dig at the Mann government and said that it should stop the drama of running such campaigns and actually curb drug addiction.
He said that in the campaign against drugs, all the officers from DGP to high rank and below are roaming from village to village, street to street, but the result is zero. When such an incident happened during the previous Congress government, Aam Aadmi Party had demanded resignation from the government. He said that will Bhagwant Mann not resign on this incident?
Another big reason for the sale of poisonous liquor is that the government has increased the prices of liquor indiscriminately, due to which people related to the excise department and others are serving poison to the people in the name of cheap liquor. Expressing condolences to the deceased due to poisonous liquor, Mr. Sood said that since this incident has happened due to the mistake of the government, the dependents of the deceased should be given at least Rs 25 lakh compensation.
He said that such incidents are not possible without political protection. It has also come to light that the liquor contractor there is close to Aam Aadmi Party, so the concerned police officers should also be included in the investigation and it should be found out under whose protection this poisonous liquor was sold.
