Barnala: Punjab does not have even a drop of extra water to give to any state. The riparian rights of the state will be protected in all circumstances. This was revealed by Water Resources Minister Punjab Gurmeet Singh Meet Heyer while speaking to the media during a function organized for the launch of projects costing 3.10 crores at village Nangal on Friday. On this occasion, he said that at present 78 blocks of Punjab are in the dark zone, which shows that the recharge of water underground is decreasing, while the cost is high.

On the other hand, the number of such blocks in Haryana is only 60. It is clear from this that Punjab does not have surplus water to give to any other state. On this occasion, he said that extensive efforts are being made by the Punjab government in the field of sports, thus 1000 sports nurseries will be established in the state soon. Under the Punjab government's intention to promote sports culture, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the sports budget has been increased to 550 crores, which was only up to 100 crores in previous governments. He said that a multipurpose sports project will be brought in about 20 acres near Sanghera to make Barnala a sports nursery so that our youth stays away from drugs. Efforts are being made by the Punjab government to deliver canal water to tails and fields, under which underground pipes are being installed so that underground water can be saved. The result of these efforts is that Punjab has used 24 percent more canal water this time and canal water has reached many villages after decades. About 56 crore rupees are being spent on the work of upgrading Kasi near Nangal. Rs 30 crore will be spent under the first phase and Rs 26 crore under the second phase.
On this occasion, he laid the foundation stone for the renovation of the Nangal pond, which will cost 70 lakh rupees. He announced the commencement of the projects of renovation of second pond, playground, community hall, library, multi gym and underground pipes at a cost of 3.10 crores. On this occasion, he started a sapling campaign in the village and honored various personalities with saplings and gave a message not to use plastic. On this occasion, besides others, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Dr. Narinder Dhaliwal, OSD Hasanpreet Bhardwaj, Axion Punjab Pollution Control Board Harinder Singh and other dignitaries were present.
