Police and District Administration to be fully alert-District Election Officer to conduct peaceful elections

Nawanshahr, April 2 - Police and district administration are on full alert to conduct peaceful Lok Sabha elections. District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa said this while talking to reporters at District Administrative Complex Nawanshahr. He said that there are a total of 4 lakh 93 thousand 282 eligible voters in the district, out of which 2 lakh 55 thousand 545 male voters and 2 lakh 37 thousand 718 female voters and 19 third gender voters.

District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa said this while talking to reporters at District Administrative Complex Nawanshahr. He said that there are a total of 4 lakh 93 thousand 282 eligible voters in the district, out of which 2 lakh 55 thousand 545 male voters and 2 lakh 37 thousand 718 female voters and 19 third gender voters. Apart from this, there are 13 thousand 311 voters aged 18 to 19 years, 5113 PWD voters, 4559 above 85 years and 1287 service voters. He said that 615 polling booths have been constructed in the district, there are 201 polling booths in Banga constituency, 217 polling booths in Nawanshahr and 197 polling booths in Balachore. Apart from this, 170 polling booths have been declared sensitive and 6 pink, 1 PWD, 3 youth managed and 30 model polling booths are being constructed.
The District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner said that the target of more than 75 percent voting has been set this time. For this, through sweep activities, voters are being made aware to use their vote as much as possible. He said that where 1950 number has been issued for registering any kind of complaint regarding the elections in the district, C Vigil App and ESMS Digital App have also been issued.
Meanwhile, SSP Dr. Mehtab Singh said that the police administration is fully alert to conduct the Lok Sabha elections. Apart from BSF, more than 400 policemen have been deployed in the district. A special blockade has been made on the borders of the district, on which jawans stay 24 hours a day. Apart from this, search operations are also being conducted from time to time in the district and along with this, flag marches are also being taken out. He said that 23 pamphlets have been registered under the NDPS Act so far and 183 grams of heroin and 1100 prohibited drugs have been recovered from them. 17 accused have been arrested by registering 18 papers under the Excise Act. He said that there are 2921 arms holders in the district, 75% of them have been deposited and the remaining arms are being deposited. Apart from this, 8 fugitive criminals have been arrested.
He said that cameras have been installed on all the roads in the district and everyone's movements are being monitored. He urged the residents of the district to play an active role in the Lok Sabha elections and said that it is the biggest festival of democracy and they should participate in it with full enthusiasm. On this occasion, other officials and employees were also present besides Election Tehsildar Palwinder Singh.
