Rathi, who is close to senior Akali Dal leader Gurpreet Singh Raju Khanna and has been appointed shortly before the upcoming municipal elections, said in an interview that he will contest the election with full strength. The development of the city during the Akali Dal government will be highlighted. He said that the youth will have a special role in these elections. Party President Sukhbir Singh Badal will make a special announcement tomorrow, November 14, with the aim of re-mobilizing the youth. In response to a question about the removal of Harpal Juneja, he refused to comment directly, saying that it was a decision of the party high command, but also said that Harpal Juneja is a senior leader of the party, he may have to be "otherwise adjusted".
